The Kitchen comes from a term used in pickleball to describe the no volley zone that extends 7 feet on each side of the net.
The Kitchen will host both pickleball and cornhole leagues, while also employing a pickleball pro, who will be available for lessons, as well as a pickleball pro shop. During the winter months, the large yard that hosts cornhole games during warmer weather will be transformed into an outdoor ice skating rink.
This concept builds upon other successful eat, drink, and play businesses models, such as Top Golf, that allows family and friends to gather not just for a meal, but also for recreation and sport. While these concepts have become popular in recent years, The Kitchen will be the first of its kind here in mid-Missouri.
The Kitchen will be the latest project at Discovery Park, which is experiencing tremendous growth over the past few years as 1,500 residents now live in Aria Apartments nearby. Discovery Park also contains a Marriott TownePlace Suites, Park Restaurant, dozens of local businesses in the office park, as well as Horton Animal Hospital. Other area amenities are expected to be announced in the coming months.
